Photocopy of a typewritten biography of Samuel Porter Ewing (1838-1895). Ewing was a Mormon pioneer who settled in Provo, Utah and later in Mona, Utah.
School of the prophets
Handwritten meeting minutes of the School of the Prophets in Provo, Utah. The intention of the school was to educate members of the Mormon Church in doctrines of the faith. The topics discussed related to Mormon and to Provo topics. An emphasis was placed on getting workers to go to St. George, Utah to help construct the Mormon temple there.
Andrew Hunter Scott autobiography and diary
Handwritten autobiography and diary. Also included is a typescript of these items. Scott served as a missionary for the Mormon Church to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and New Jersey in the 1840s. He was also an early resident of Provo, Utah. Scott's autobiography covers his life to 1855, and his diary covers the years 1855 to 1859.
Shadrack Holdaway
Typewritten biography of Shadrack Holdaway by his granddaughter. Newren writes about Haldaway's service in the Mormon Battalion and his later life in Provo, Utah.
Eunice Pease Haws Stewart notes and diary
Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a handwritten diary kept from 4 March 1855 to 2 April 1858. There are many gaps. Stewart writes about her experiences while her husband is on missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Nevada and Australia. She lived in Provo, Utah. Wilford Woodruff, Apostle in the Mormon Church, briefly lived with her family when Salt Lake City, Utah, was evacuated during the Utah Expedition in 1858.
