Typescript of letter from Kane to George Bancroft, saying that Kane is presently staying in the Mormon camp in Council Bluffs, it is too late for the Mormons to undertake a journey to California that year, nor he will try to continue to California. Dated July 11, 1846. Apparently photocopied out of unknown printed source, footnote on bottom of page refers to Bancroft Papers, Massachusetts Historical Society.
