Series contains a diary written by Bird, documenting his overland journey to California from April 10, 1854, to July 4, 1854. Diary includes a one paragraph introduction to his sister, Julia Bird Talbot, dated August 5, 185[5]. The text documents Bird's travels from Naperville, Illinois, to Bear River, Wyoming.
