Scope and Contents Three handwritten and signed letters with typescripts of two of them. One item was written by Edward Everett (1794-1865), minister to Great Britain for the United States (1841-1845), on Nov. 23, 1843 in London and was addressed to Ashbel. Everett reports on the negotiations with Great Britain about a loan to the Republic of Texas for the purpose of ending slavery there. Handwritten and signed letter, dated 5 April 1792, and addressed to Reverend William Clarke and William Hayley, an English poet. Barlow writes about a poem he submitted to the two men to critique. Also included is anetching portrait of Barlow with a mechanically reproduced autograph.
