Two typed and signed letters written at the Navy Department in Washington in 1918. The first is dated April 29 and is addressed to Mr. Fred G. Walsen, and the other is dated May 9 and is addressed to Mrs. C. W. Wildey. The body of both letters is identical and expresses appreciation for heeding the Navy's call for binoculars, telescopes, and spy glasses.

Roosevelt wants each state to establish its Selective Service System as soon as possible and requests Carr's full support in this effort in Colorado. Scope and Contents Handwritten and typewritten correspondence. Three of the items were signed by Roosevelt. One is addressed to John Walker of Cosmopolitan magazine relating to an article on "the great problem of our generation" which Roosevelt submitted for publication. Another is to Maggie Bryant and dated March 20, 1899. At the bottom Roosevelt has written by hand, "Your brother was a most gallant soldier; he was killed beside me." A mimeographed letter is addressed to Roosevelt dated Sept. 16, 1907. ...

Handwritten and signed letter dated December 1, 1848 and written in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was addressed to "Thes. Shute" of new Orleans. Taylor expresses regret that he must turn down the offer of Capt. Thompson to take passage to Louisville on the "Magnolia." Taylor was not sure at the time when he would be going North.

Woodrow Wilson letter

Typewritten and signed letter, dated April 11, 1917, and addressed to H. Lawrence Thackwell, a civil engineer in Marbleton, Wyoming. Wilson thanks Thackwell for his offer of unnamed services. Wilson says he will file the offer with the War Department which may make use of Thackwell's assistance.
