Nauvoo (Ill.) legal proceedings
Two handwritten transcripts of court cases regarding the slandering of Joseph Smith (1805-1844), the Mormon prophet. The first item is dated Dec. 5, 1842 and involves the City of Nauvoo vs. Thomas J. Hunter. The second item is dated Feb. 17, 1843 and involves the City of Nauvoo vs. Amos Davis.
Sandy Burbank legal notes and translation
Handwritten notes in French dating from 1878 and an English translation. The items pertain to court cases concerning French newspapers that were convicted of libel, slander, and indiscretion in reporting political matters.
Marion Jones Callister papers
Collection includes correspondence, files, judicial reports, and other papers relating to the personal and professional life of Marion Jones Callister. There is also an oral history. Included are papers specifically on the Idaho vs. Freedom case. Much of the collection deals with his service as a judge; the controversy over the equal rights amendment is mentioned throughout the collection. The collection dates from 1930 to 1994.
America Inns of Court Foundation records
Collection includes American Inns of Court records, including correspondence, newsletters, photographs, project records, and oral history transcripts and audio recordings with instrumental figures, including Chief Justice Burger, Justice O'Connor, and Rex E. Lee. Also contains papers documenting the development of The American Inns of Court. Materials dated 1967-1997.
Will of Charles Christopher Springer
Contains a photocopied transcription from "American Families: Genealogical and Heraldic," 49 E 34- G.S., page 209, titled, "Will of Christopher Springer." The biographical account discusses the Springer family in Europe and North America, stating that the actions of the Orphans Court as stated in the will are dated June 9, 1669, three weeks after Christopher's death. Originally published by the American Historical Society in the 1920s.
