George L. Adams interview

Scope and Contents Transcript of an interview conducted by Craig Niederriter on 20 March 1985 for the Ray Hillam project. Adams in the 259th quartermaster battalion out of Pleasant Grove, Utah. He served in Vietnam from 1968 to 1969, and he told of feeling very lonely and homesick. He talked about his feelings when many men were killed around him and about how he dealt with stress. He also described his other activities in Vietnam where he also served as a perimeter guard and on ammunition supply convoys.

Scope and Contents Transcript and audiocassette recording of an interview conducted by Mark D. Bell for the Ray Hillam project, dated approximately 1985. Allen went to Vietnam in 1962. He said he had little difficulty with killing because the enemy was brutal and murdered religious leaders and teachers. He added that the enemy deserved to die. Pat Matthews in 1937 as part of the Federal Writer's Project for the Works Progress Administration. The item includes handwritten corrections. Egan talks about his experiences in the Army Air Corps during World War II. He trained as a pilot and was sent to England. He flew 62 combat missions over Europe in a P-38 Lightning aircraft.

Daniels joined the military shortly after the attack on Pearl Harbor. He was made a pilot and flew combat missions from England over other parts of Europe. He also dropped food for the hungry people of Holland.

McCrory talks about his early life in Iowa and his move to California. He joined the United States Army and served in the Air Corps as a pilot for B-17 bombers and P-51 fighters. He flew combat missions from England over Germany and other areas of Europe.
