Also included are photocopies of materials relating to the estate of Samuel Smith. These persons were children of Asael Smith (1744-1830), the paternal grandfather of the first president of the Mormon Church, Joseph Smith (1801-1844).

Scope and Contents Handwritten and printed legal instruments relating to Emma Hale Smith (1804-1879), wife of the Mormon Prophet, Joseph Smith (1805-1844). One of the items deals with the payment of taxes owed on certain properties in the county. The other item is a statement of guardianship and real estate inheritances relating to the children of Emma Smith and signed by her.
