Scope and Contents Collection includes (spans the dates 1952-1996) hand-written manuscripts created by Merrill Bradshaw, original scores and parts, published and bound scores such as “Title of Liberty” and “The Restoration”; papers centered around his teaching years such as grade transcripts and class rolls; audio/video recordings that include reel-to-reel tapes, cassette tapes, CDs, video cassettes, and LPs, and correspondence.

Morris M. Clinger interview with J. J. Keeler

Scope and Contents Typescript of an interview taken from the included sound tapes. The interview was conducted by Morris M. Clinger on 2 March 1982 for the Joint Oral History Program of Brigham Young University Archives, BYU Alumni Association Emeritus Club and Charles Redd Center for Western Studies. Keeler talks about his education, various occupations, and his career at Brigham Young University as a professor of music. He tells about the music directors and professors at the university.

Don L. Earl papers

Scope and Contents Collection contains professional correspondence for when Don L. Earl was a professor at Brigham Young University, newspaper clippings of operas and other events in which he was involved, class and student files, photographs and slides including those of operas performed at BYU, music scores, production programs, and other materials relating to Earl's time as faculty at BYU and during his musical career, 1952-1978.

John R. Halliday memoirs

Scope and Contents Includes a two-page vita, and recollections of the author's ancestors, family and youth; professional life; church activities; and hobbies. He served a Latter-day Saint mission in Germany, 1931-1933; studied music at the State Academy of Music in Berlin, Germany, 1933-1934; and worked in the Department of Music at Brigham Young University, 1936-1938 and again beginning in 1942. Material was dictated by John R. Halliday in June 1971, and later transcribed.

William F. Hanson papers

Scope and Contents Indian opera productions composed by Hanson, musical scores, research material, and scrapbooks and photos based on ceremonies and music of the Ute Indians of Colorado and Utah. Operas included are: "Sun Dance," produced in New York City, 1938, "Bear Dance," and "The Bleeding Heart," a white man's fantasy of an imaginary Indian people who lived at the base of Mount Timpanogos in Utah.
