Edwin Gordon Woolley autobiography and a history

Scope and Contents Typewritten copy of an autobiography which includes excerpts from a diary. Woolley writes about his experiences in St. George, Utah, including business matters and Mormon Church assignments. He also gives an account of intercepting a Navajo Indian raiding party in 1869. Also included is a three-page typewritten account of Woolley having a personal visit with David Whitmer, one of the "Three Witnesses" to the Book of Mormon.

Scope and Contents This collection is a typescript of memoirs by Flora Snow Woolley which was compiled and illustrated by Julius Woolley Dalley. Flora describes her early life in Salt Lake City, Provo, and St. George, Utah; her life as a polygamous wife and a young mother; her experiences on the "underground" to avoid arrest by federal officials for polygamy; and the rearing and educating of her own and her husband's other wife's children.

Sketch of the life of Margaret Thornton Wright

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typed biography by an unknown author. Margaret Thornton Wright was born on 4 January 1844 in Scotland. Her family joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1850, migrated to Utah in 1853, and later came to American Fork. She married Frekrick Wright and had 13 children. Margaret died in 1908.

Scope and Contents Typescript (carbon copy) of an autobiographical sketch written by Layne in 1898 which gives details of his early life in Nauvoo, Illinois; his trek across the Plains to Utah; his settlement in Davis, Weber and Cache Counties, Utah; his experiences with the Mormon soldiers sent to oppose Johnston's army; and his eventual move to Alberta, Canada to escape arrest as a polygamist. Also includes extracts from his journal, 1887-1891.
