Scope and Contents Contains a subpoena signed by Samuel D. Lucas ordering Joel F. Childs, William Thompson, and Martin O. Jones to appear before a court hearing between Phineas Skinner and Robert A. Crenshaw in Independence, Missouri. Dated July 31, 1854. Also includes an image of Lucas.

Content Description Contains a subpoena signed by Samuel C. Owens as Jackson County, Missouri clerk. In the document, Owens ordered Jacob Gregg, Jackson County Sheriff, to bring David Burris before a judge to answer to charges made against in by Harmon G. Noland regarding debt on some land owned by Noland. Dated January 12, 1835. Also includes a picture of a painting of Owens painted by his son Ambrose Young Owens.

Josiah Lambourn praecipe

Scope and Contents Handwritten and signed order dated 5 June 1845. Labourn directs the Hancock Circuit Court to subpoena prosecution witnesses for the upcoming trial of the murders of Hyrum Smith, second patriarch of the Mormon Church. The item lists the witnesses.

William I. Appleby subpoena for Wilford Woodruff

Scope and Contents Handwritten subpoena dated 19 April 1855. The item was issued under the authority of Judge Leonidas Shaver and was signed by William I. Appleby. Shaver orders seven people be called to testify in the case of Utah Teritory vs. Rufus Ingalls. One of those called was Wilford Woodruff, an apostle in the Mormon Church.
