Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilmed copy of a typescript of an interview. Coverson was interviewed by Mary A. Hicks in 1937 as part of the Federal Writer's Project for the Works Progress Administration. The item includes handwritten corrections. Coverson was a child when her mother died, and she was raised in the plantation house. She describes the Union Army briefly, talks about the Ku Klux Klan, and gives thanks for her freedom.
