Anna Mary Ball Frewin autobiography

Scope and Contents Typewritten copy of an autobiography. Frewin was born in England, migrated to Utah in 1881, and settled in Salt Lake City, Utah. She writes about Mormon polygamists hiding from federal officials stating, "you couldn't tell whether there was a man or woman coming down the street because the men were dressed in women's clothing with sun bonnets."

Scope and Contents Mormon hymn books, musical scores, newspaper clippings, a short autobiography, a biography, and letters. Also included is a photostat copy of a handwritten list of passangers on the William Tapscott in 1859. The Mormons on the ship later formed the George Rowley handcart company which emigrated to Utah in 1859. Also included is a typescript of a diary by an unnamed person describing the journey to Utah with the Rowley company. This is transcription from the Journal History of the Church...

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten biography. Anderson writes about her father, Arza Adams. Adams was born in 1804, he joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and migrated to New York state. He suffered persecutions with the Mormons in Missouri, igrated to Salt Lake Valley in 1848, and participated in the settling of American Fork, Utah. He died in 1889.

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten biography of William Armstrong by Coddington. Armstrong was born in 1805 in Scotland, joined the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and migrated to Utah in 1853. He worked in Salt Lake City, Utah, but later moved to American Fork, Utah, where he died in 1895.

She tells of the early settlement of Salt Lake City and Provo, Utah including problems with Indians, crickets and grass hoppers, and the difficult living conditions.

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a microfilm copy of a typewritten biography. Shelley writes about William Thomas Brown. Brown was born in England in 1843 and migrated to Utah in 1852. During the journey, cholera killed both of Brown's parents. He lived in Salt Lake City, Utah, and later settled in Alpine, Utah.
