John Brown letter and newspaper clippings

Scope and Contents Handwritten and signed letter and photocopies of newspaper clippings. The letter was written at White Hall, New Jersey on April 29, 1857 and is addressed to William Barnes Esq. of Albany New York. Brown states that he would be pleased if Mr. Woods or any friends at Albany could help him by contributing money. Also included are three newspaper clippings dated 1889, 1892, and 1896. The clippings are retrospectives on John Brown and the Harper's Ferry raid (1859).

John Greenleaf Whittier letter
