Ebenezer Beesley papers

Scope and Contents Mormon hymn books, musical scores, newspaper clippings, a short autobiography, a biography, and letters. Also included is a photostat copy of a handwritten list of passangers on the William Tapscott in 1859. The Mormons on the ship later formed the George Rowley handcart company which emigrated to Utah in 1859. Also included is a typescript of a diary by an unnamed person describing the journey to Utah with the Rowley company. This is transcription from the Journal History of the Church...

Janet Roberts Blamforth papers

Scope and Contents The collection consists of two biographies and miscellaneous photocopied papers that support the author's research. One biography is entitled "David Robert Roberts: the Father of Utah Good Roads." It is 25 pages of photocopied typescript and was written for the Utah 1976 Bicentennial Biography competition sponsored by the Salt Lake Tribune and the Utah State Historical Society. Roberts was a Utah politician who, as a Utah state legislator, pushed for improving roads in the state....

Louisa Chamberlain : a youthful pioneer

Scope and Contents Typewritten story with handwritten corrections. The story is a fictionalized account of a young woman living in New Harmony, Utah. In the item, Chamberlain tells about her life in nineteenth century Utah.

C. C. A. Christensen autobiography and biographies

Scope and Contents Typewritten copies of biographies and clippings relating to C. C. A. Christensen (1831-1912). Also included is an autobiography of Christensen that has been translated from the original Danish. Christensen is the most noted Mormon artist who documented much of the Mormon experience through his paintings. He also painted murals to decorate Mormon meeting houses and temples.

Scope and Contents Contains production company records on financing, production, distribution, advertising, contracts, photographs, audio tapes, soundtracks, and reports. Motion pictures documented include Rivals, Where the Red Fern Grows, Seven Alone, Pony Express Rider, and Against a Crooked Sky. Includes 35 mm and 16 mm prints of produced films, as well as files on unproduced projects such as preliminary research and scripts. Also contains the personal papers of company founder Lyman Dayton.

Foreword to a life story

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a handwritten autobiography of John L. Seymour who taught at Sacramento Junior College for 24 years, produced and directed many plays, composed operas and chamber music. He later moved to Cedar City, Utah after the death of his mother and established a memorial library for her at Southern Utah State College. He discusses the operas he wrote and describes his philosophy of life.
