Scope and Contents
Collection is composed of 69 lantern slides dating from approximately 1888 to 1950. The majority of the slides are photographs of paintings by John Hafen. There are also two slides of a painting by Rose Hartwell and two slides of paintings by John Hafen's son, Virgil Hafen. There are also two portraits on John Hafen, one by Will Vawter and the other photographer not identified. There is also a photograph taken by George Edward Anderson of John Hafen's son, Joseph, and John's wife, Thora.

Typewritten essay. This item has the same title as Spalding's five volume work published from 1924 to 1955. The date of the composition of this article is uncertain. Spalding writes about his impressions of religion in the Far East, primarily India, after a visit. The essay talks mainly about mysticism and spiritualism.

Richard McNemar letter
Item — Folder: 1
Identifier: Vault MSS 270
Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter, dated October 8, 1833, and addressed to "Richard." The item was signed "Eleazar Wright" by which McNemar was apparently signing letters at this time. The name Eleazar was given to him by Lucy Wright and the name Wright was taken as a tribute to her. McNemar writes to his son as a "spiritual" rather than as a natural father and discusses religious matters.
