This collection consists of correspondence, a diary of John's wife, Thora Hafen (January 1901-May 1901), a notebook, certificates, family genealogies, mementos, illustrated programs of Hafen's art exhibits, and newspaper clippings which laud Hafen's art. Part of the collection was represented in a catalog entitled
A Step Beyond: Artist's Archives and Creative Process, presented by the Special Collections and Archives and Manuscripts of Brigham Young University, 1987.

Richard Halliburton letter

Scope and Contents
Handwritten letter sent to the newspaper offices that printed a column known as "The Office Window." The letter is dated March 22, 1928 and was written in Indianapolis, Indiana. Also included is a photocopy of the newspaper article dated Feb. 25, 1928. The news piece was somewhat critical of Halliburton and his adventures. Halliburton wrote to thank the editors for the publicity and to correct the things said about him.

Handwritten and signed letters addressed to David Horner. In the first, dated 16 May 1953, Hartley looks forward to a dinner engagement. The second, dated 23 March 1956, relates gratitude for Horner's congratulations on his receipt of a C.B.E. A letter dated 6 November 1956 and written from Venice gives a detailed description of the advantages and disadvantages of the Hotel Regina, and relates news of Victor Cunard and Freya Stark.
