Mildred Barthel autobiography and poetry

Scope and Contents Typewritten autobiography and copies of stories and poems, some of which have been published in various magazines throughout the United States. Barthel discusses her education, marriage, and family. She describes events leading to her conversion to the Mormon Church in Iowa, and explains how principles of that church and her love of writing have fulfilled many aspects in her life.

Battle hymn of the republic

Scope and Contents Printed item commemorating the founding of the New England Women's Club. The item was hand addressed to Mrs. Mary J. Judah and signed by the president of the club, Julia Ward Howe, in November 1892. The item includes all five verses of the "Battle Hymn of the Republic" and an account by Mrs. Howe of how she came to write the poem.

Ebenezer Beesley papers

Scope and Contents Mormon hymn books, musical scores, newspaper clippings, a short autobiography, a biography, and letters. Also included is a photostat copy of a handwritten list of passangers on the William Tapscott in 1859. The Mormons on the ship later formed the George Rowley handcart company which emigrated to Utah in 1859. Also included is a typescript of a diary by an unnamed person describing the journey to Utah with the Rowley company. This is transcription from the Journal History of the Church...

C. C. A. Christensen autobiography and biographies

Scope and Contents Typewritten copies of biographies and clippings relating to C. C. A. Christensen (1831-1912). Also included is an autobiography of Christensen that has been translated from the original Danish. Christensen is the most noted Mormon artist who documented much of the Mormon experience through his paintings. He also painted murals to decorate Mormon meeting houses and temples.

Foreword to a life story

Scope and Contents Photocopy of a handwritten autobiography of John L. Seymour who taught at Sacramento Junior College for 24 years, produced and directed many plays, composed operas and chamber music. He later moved to Cedar City, Utah after the death of his mother and established a memorial library for her at Southern Utah State College. He discusses the operas he wrote and describes his philosophy of life.

William Sansom autobiography

Scope and Contents Holograph of an unpublished short story, "The Countess," on 13 loose foolscap pages. The work includes revisions and deletions and was the last the author completed. Autobiographical material is contained in a quarto notebook. In is handwritten and includes revisions, deletions and marginal notes.
