Joseph Bates Noble papers

Scope and Contents Handwritten letters, deeds, histories, newspaper clippings, and an autograph album. Family papers include an autograph album owned by Noble's wife, Mary Beeman Bates, which includes a prophecy by Wilford Woodruff about the end of the world. Also included are property deeds on a lot in Nauvoo, Illinois, and a bishop's court document from 1848 in Salt Lake City, Utah, which involves a dispute over foodsuffs in payment for services.

Record proceeding at the direction of St. George Temple

Scope and Contents Typewritten excerpt from a diary. The item is a typed copy of Woodruff's diary entry for 1 Jan. 1877. Woodruff was present at the "direction" of the St. George Temple in St. George, Utah, and offered a "Dedication Prayer" which he wrote into his diary. This dedication was for part of the temple.

George Reynolds letter

Scope and Contents Handwritten letter dated 5 Sept. 1877 and addressed to Wilford Woodruff (1807-1898) who later became the fourth president of the Mormon Church. Reynolds writes a brief letter dealing with business transactions.

George Albert Smith papers

Scope and Contents Genealogy sheets, correspondence, a scrapbook, notebooks, photograph album, and memorabilia. The scrapbook was given to Smith by LDS Church leaders on his birthday in 1940 and include birthday cards from these persons. Many of the materials relate to family genealogy and Brigham Young Academy. Some of the materials deal with George Albert Smith (1817-1875), Wilford Woodruff (1807-1898), Elias Smith (1769-1846), Emma Hale Smith (1804-1879), and other prominent Mormons. John Taylor letters

Scope and Contents Photocopies of typed copies of letters sent by John Taylor to his wives and to such LDS Church leaders as Brigham Young and Wilford Woodruff. The materials deal largely with family and Church matters. Also included are photocopies of handwritten notes on Taylor's various wives.

Scope and Contents Photocopies of letters exchanged between Wilford Woodruff and his brother, Asahel. Wilford describes baptising their family members into the Mormon Church and establishing a branch of that Church in Farmington, Conn. He announces the 14 July birth of his daughter and outlines preparations to migrate to Missouri. He bears testimony to the truthfulness of the Mormon Church.

Scope and Contents Handwritten and signed letter, dated October 18, 1887, and addressed to Jacob G. Bigler. Woodruff writes about Bigler's unmarried daughter being baptized in the temple for her health. The item was composed in Salt Lake City, Utah.
