Hannah, who was barely literate, tells Adams about a "Refamation" in the area of Tunbridge and Chelsea, Vermont. The family of Joseph Smith (1805-1844), the first president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, lived in this area in the 1790s.
