William Marks arrest warrant
Handwritten arrest warrant, dated 28 Nov. 1842, and registered in Nauvoo, Illinois. Marks seeks the arrest of Thomas J. Hunter for slandering Joseph Smith, the first president of the Mormon Church.
Brigham Young letter to Rufus C. Allen
Photocopy of a handwritten letter dated 1 March 1857 and addressed to Refus C. Allen. Young writes about protection against the Indians, presenting a good example for the Indians, and gives his approval for a school for Indian children.
Brunson family papers
Photocopies of correspondence, a diary, newspaper clippings, certificates, and miscellaneous items. The diary was kept between December 1941 and March 1942 and relates Brunson's feelings and observations at the beginning of the United States' involvement in World War II. The correspondence includes items by Peter's father, Lewis Brunson (1831-1888), and by Mormon Church leaders. The clippings relate to the activities of Brunson family members.
Emma Hale Smith certificate
Printed form with handwritten entries. The item is dated 17 July 1844 and is signed. Emma Smith accepts responsibility for the estate of her husband, Joseph Smith.
J. Reuben Clark, Jr. papers
The great bulk of the J. Reuben Clark Jr. papers were inventoried in 1967. This register is only of the Clark papers that have come to the library since that time. This addendum contains a variety of papers that cover the full life span of Mr. Clark. However, the great bulk of the material here are his personal diaries and his financial records.
Martha Coray notebook
Edward Cram letter
Handwritten and signed letter, addressed to Cram's sister Laura and details personal matters. Mentioned briefly are the Philadelphia riots and the murder of Joseph Smith.
Brigham Young land indenture
Handwritten and printed land indenture dated 18 April 1873. The item is also signed and notarized. The manuscript documents land held by Brigham Young; his wife, Mary Ann Angel Young; and his son, Willard Young.
John D. Lee letter
Handwritten and signed letter, dated 19 Nov. 1877, and addressed to "Rachel Olive," Lee's daughter. Lee writes from prison where he was held on a charge of murder. He mentions the conditions of his incarceration and the court rulings concerning the divorce of Brigham Young, second president of the Mormon Church, and Ann Eliza Young.
