Alfred N. Billings diary

Photocopy of a handwritten diary kept from 21 May 1855 to 3 Oct. 1855. Billings was called to serve as a missionary to the Ute Indians in the Elk Mountain area of southeastern Utah. After some initial success the Mormon missionaries were forced to leave by the Indians. Also included are Billings' financial records from the 1850s and 1860s.

Scope and Contents Contains a handwritten diary of Jacob Hamblin, with entries from June 21, 1868 to 1886. Entries relate farming conditions and crop yields in the Kanab Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, travels along Pariah River, and an account of a conference conducted by Brigham Young on April 2, 1870, dedicating a settlement in Kanab. Heber Charles Hicks autobiography

Typewritten and bound autobiography. Hicks lived much of his life in Provo, Utah, where he was employed as a newspaper editor and as a businessman. He also served as a bishop of the Papago Mormon Church Indian Ward.
