Jacob G. Bigler autobiography

Scope and Contents

Photocopy of a typescript of an autobiography. Bigler writes about his relationship with the first president of the Mormon Church, Joseph Smith (1805-1844), his life in Nauvoo, Illinois, his migration to Utah, and his life in Nephi, Utah. Bigler served on a mission for the Mormon Church in Ireland and was active in Mormon Church activities in Nephi.

John A. Blythe journal

Scope and Contents

Photocopy of typescript. Describes his trip from Salt Lake City to the site of Joseph City and daily life in the United Order in that town. The diary also discusses the author's departure on a supply trip to Salt Lake City and concludes with his arrival in St. George, Utah en route.

A one-page autobiographical sketch entitled "History of John A. Blythe, From his birth to Feb. 3rd, 1876" is also included.

Content Description

Contains a transcript, created by Karen Christian Jensen, of the journal of Lewis Earl Christian one of the first Mormon missionaries to South America. He relates his experience in the 1920's receiving his call and preparing to serve in South America, arriving in Argentina, and preaching the gospel to the people there. Also included are copies of his call and other documents important to his missionary service as well as copies of photographs taken by Christian on his mission.

Death certificate of Charles Blancher Thompson

Scope and Contents Death certificate issued by the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, for Charles Blancher Thompson. Thompson was a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who left that faith to start his own religion known as the Jehovah's Presbytery of Zion. The exact date of his death was unknown, but this death certificate establishes that he died on 27 Feb. 1895. This copy of the death certificate was issued in 1993. David Coombs diaries and records of temple work

Scope and Contents

Handwritten diaries, financial records, and records of temple work performed for the Mormon Church. The items include an autobiography written by Coombs which covers his early years until 1884 when he started keeping a diary. He kept his journal from 1884 to 1928 with a gap from 1897 through 1899. Coombs relates his expriences while living in various communities in Sanpete and Cache Counties, Utah. Also included are patriarchal blessings of family members.
