Robert Graves letters and photographs
Scope and Contents
Personal correspondence of Robert Graves to Derek Savage. The letters deal with Graves' opinion on poetry, his concern for getting his works published, and family matters such as his misgivings of the school system in Spain where he lived. Some of the materials explain some of Graves' literary techniques and provide insight into how he created his works. The collection includes three photographs. One is of his sons William aged 10 and Juan aged 6. Another photograph is of William and his daughter Lucia aged 7. The remaining photograph is of a small child thought to be Tomas Graves on the cover of a Graves family Christmas card. One letter is written on the back of one page of a manuscript of what appears to be of a work on a classical theme.
