Biographical / Historical
Jacques Clamorgan was a Creole slave dealer, fur trader, merchant, financier, land spectaculator, statesman, explorer, and colonial promoter of the northern border of Spain in the New World. He is best known for his activities in connection with the Mississippi Company and was the first to make a successful trading venture between Santa Fe and Missouri.
