Handwritten and signed letter dated March 9, 1521. Charles writes to the Duke of Arcos concerning his efforts to pacify the trouble in Seville, Spain.

Biographical History
Rodrigo Ponce de León (1490-1530) was the Duke of Arcos in Spain.
Don Rodrigo Ponce de León was born in 1490, and was the grandson of Don Rodrigo Ponce de León, Marquis of Cadiz. Upon the death of his grandfather in 1592, Ponce de León inherited his position. In 1493 his title of count of Arcos was elevated to a dukedom. Ponce de León was under the tutelage of his grandmother, Beatriz Pacheco, until her death in 1511. He later was granted the capitancy of Seville in 1513.
Biographical History
The Holy Roman Emperor Charles V (1500-1558) ruled between 1519 and 1556. He was also King of Spain between 1516 and 1556.
