Biographical / Historical

William DeLacy Baird (1864-1937) was born in Three Mile Creek, Utah, on January 28, 1864. His parents, Sarah Mary Theresa DeLacy Baird and Alexander Baird, were converts to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1884, William married Charlotte Alvina Keller, with whom he had 11 children. In 1899, he left his wife and their then-five children to serve a mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Northern States. During this time, the family kept up a small homestead farm. William served in Indiana in Fort Wayne, Elkhart, and South Bend. He returned in 1901. William died on February 11, 1937, in Mill Creek, Idaho, where he had lived with his family.
