Stan Wolfley interview
Scope and Contents
Transcript of an interview conducted by S. Criss James on 26 Jan. 1985 for Ray Hillam's war project. Wolfley joined the United States Army in 1944 before he turned 17 years old. He was trained in demolition to destroy obstacles to allow landing craft to land on islands. He participated in the battle for Iwo Jima in 1945 and took part in the assault on Mt. Suribachi. He later was involved in the landing at Okinawa where he was wounded. Wolfley also participiated in the occupation of Japan after the war.
