MacKintosh refers to Hyde's absence from the newspaper and Hyde's expected return in the fall; he thanks Caine for his unexplained "cooperation" in Pottawatamie; and urges Caine to raise the difference, if the draft is not sufficient to purchase the paper stock, "from the good folks there," with the intention of reimbursement.
