Daniel Warner letter
Scope and Contents
Handwritten and signed letter dated 16 March 1838 addressed to the law firm of Law & Todd of New York City. Warner writes requesting information on how he may pay funds he owed. The item was written in Concord, Ohio. Warner alludes to Mr. "Bissel." "I want you to write to Esq. Bissel to not do anything about that mortgage until I see you ... you will certainly get your money sooner of me than you can colect [sic] it by law. Mr. Bissel is a head strong man & likes to make cost." This Bissel could have been Benjamin Bissell, a lawyer, who defended the first president of the Mormon Church, Joseph Smith, in a trial in 1837.
