Scope and Contents
Contains a ledger book created by then-First Presidency of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Joseph F. Smith, Anthon H. Lund, and Charles W. As the title page reads, the purpose of the book is to be a "Record of the Members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints who have died in the Swedish Mission, in whose behalf endowments have been given" (includes Saints born in Norway and Finland); completed records were to be sent to the president of the temple in St. George, Utah. The record consists of 13 pages of handwritten ordinance records, mainly performed between 1914 and 1933, including listings of the genealogies of various members. Record-keeping dated approximately 1896 to 1973, bulk 1914 to 1933.

Biographical / Historical
The first missionary of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was John E. Forsgren, who returned to Sweden from the United States to proselyte in 1850. By 1860, several branches of the Church were organized. In 1905, the Scandinavian Mission was renamed the Danish-Norwegian Mission, and the Swedish Mission of the Church was officially organized with headquarters in Stockholm. It originally covered Sweden, Finland, Russia and northern Germany, with Peter Mattsson serving as the first president. In 1975, the first stake was organized in Sweden. The mission was renamed Sweden Mission in June 1970.
