ALS from Lewis Jones (Independence, Missouri) to Angeline Smith (Talladega, Alabama) informing her of her son, Lafayette's rescue from the Comanche Indians (1842); ALS from Frederick Forney Foscue (Rockford, Alabama) to John Smith (Cuero, Texas) telling of family happenings, with a very critical account of John P. Lee's marriage to a fourteen-year-old girl (1848); ALS from Sarah Meadows (Coosa, Alabama) to Maria Smith (Cuero, Texas) concerning family news, marriages, and deaty (1849); and an ALS from Carrie Smith (Colorado Springs, Colorado) to Mrs. M.B. Smith (Salt Lake City, Utah) regarding Lafayette Smith and family genealogy (1921).
