George Pectol autobiography
Scope and Contents
Photocopies of a holograph document. The item purports to be a diary but was written retrospectively. Pectol tells of his conversion to the Mormon faith, the emigration of his family by wagon to Utah, and early settlement in Manti, Utah. The accounts often sermonize about the veracity of the Mormon Church and comment on its history. Much of the autobiography was written on the empty spaces of an account book with financial reports from 1836 to 1840. It records business transactions of Pectol in Indiana.
