Biographical / Historical

Walter A. Scott was born on September 28, 1864, in Niles (present day Fremont), California to Caleb Cook Scott and Elinor Bein McKay. He was married to Jennie Ann Bannan on May 18, 1886. Together they had two children. He attended Boy's High School and in 1889 possibly attended University of California at Berkeley. He had three photograph studios throughout San Francisco during his work years. He was involved in the California Camera Club of San Francisco and the Photographers' Association of America. Scott worked professionally as a photographer from the 1910s to the 1940s. Scott died on October 2, 1957, in Marin, California.
