Biographical / Historical
Campbell was born in 1878 and eventually attended business school to become a stenographer. She was living in San Francisco when the 1906 earthquake struck. She wrote a detailed letter home that described the human plight after the earthquake. Her letter was published by National Geographic in 1990.
