Biographical / Historical

Roy E. Gibson was born Roy Elmo Gibson on December 28, 1911, in Nephi, Utah to Jacob Gibson and Alice Almira North. He attended school in Logan and after his graduation he immediately became employed by the Cache Valley Herald. In 1931, Roy got a job at the Nephi Times-News. He became the editor in 1933, and eventually became the publisher in 1942. He was a director and officer of the Utah Press Association, president in 1955, and was awarded the master editor and publisher award in 1976. Roy was known as a news man for his column entitled "REGularly Speaking". He married Emma Zoe Powell on July 18, 1935; they had two children. Roy died on June 17, 1978 in Nephi, Utah.
