Biographical / Historical
C.C.A. Christensen was born on November 28, 1831, in Copenhagen, Denmark to parents Dorthea Christiane Tranum Christensen and Mads Christensen. He married Elise Rosalia Sternhjem Scheel Haarby in Liverpool, Lancashire England, United Kingdom with whom he had 7 children. They later migrated to Utah where he married Maren Frederikke "Mary" Pettersen who he also had 7 children with. He studied at the Royal Academy of Art in Copenhagen from 1847 to 1853. He served three Scandinavian missions for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and taught Danish and drawing at Sanpete Stake Academy today known as Snow College. Christensen was the editor for Utah's Danish and Norwegian newspaper and later worked in the church history department. He was a well-known painter and was known most famously for his painting entitled "Mormon Panorama." He died on July 3, 1912, in Ephraim, Utah.
