Biographical History

Alvin Jeppsen Schow (1908-1977) was a member of the United States Forest Service in the Western United States.

Alvin J. Schow was born on November 26, 1908, in Paradise, Utah. As a young man, Alvin worked extensively in farming and in 1927 graduated from Preston High School. He continued in agriculture until 1929, when he began his mission to the Eastern States Mission of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. Upon returning, he began his more formal education with courses at LDS Business College. He'd study for many years, but never end up graduating. In 1933, he started his work with the Forest Service, a job that would last him until retirement.

On March 22, 1934, he married Hannah Leone Holt in the Salt Lake Temple. Though he was always busy with work, Alvin spent considerable time serving in the Church and writing essays and stories for publication. His work required he move around frequently, and thus he was well-travelled in the western United States. Alvin died of a heart attack on September 10th, 1977.
