Collection of 1940s home recording equipment
Scope and Contents
A collection of 1940s home recording equipment, including a Packard-Bell Phonocord from 1947, with a stylus, Astatic Microphone (Conneaut, Ohio model W-SO), and phonograph instruction kit with five Phonocord Playhouse scripts. Also contains an Air King gramophone player, seven pre-recorded paper-based discs, and 53 recordable discs, including Voice-O-Graph discs. Recordable discs appear to have recorded radio broadcasts or other local recordings.

Custodial History
Donated by Jeff Hill in 2019. The Air King gramophone player belonged to Marvin S. Hill, before it was given to Jeff. The Packard-Bell machine, recordable discs, paper materials, and home recording equipment belonged to Howard M. Bowers, who appears to have been the original purchaser of the equipment and creator of the content on the recordable media.
