Scope and Contents

Contains various postcards depicting historical sites of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, photographed by Larry Nicholson and produced by Larry Nicholson Productions in Raytown, Missouri. Also contains 55 color slides taken by Larry Nicholson of a visit from David O. McKay, then president of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, at Adam-ondi-Ahman in 1966. Includes a compact disc containing digital scans of the slides. Collection materials dated 1966-1980s.

Biographical / Historical

Larry Nicholson was born Lawrence Benson Nicholson Jr. on August 21, 1931, in Kansas City, Missouri. Larry graduated from Northeast High School in 1948 and received a bachelor's degree in mathematics from William Jewell College in 1952. 1956, Larry married Dorinda Makanaonalani Stagner. Larry quit a job at Sheffield Steel in 1954 to open his own photography business. He worked from Kansas City producing photography, videography, and other audiovisual productions for clients throughout the United States. In 1984, Larry founded Nicholson Communications. He was also a designer for his wife Dorinda’s children’s books on Pearl Harbor. Larry died October 10, 2022, in Missouri.
