Scope and Contents

Includes letters, scrapbooks, photographs, artifacts, and printed ephemera related to the Kimball and Geisler families and their histories, collected by Ruth G. Snarr. Letters include mission correspondence, family events, and career-related papers. The photographs and scrapbooks, which document the range of the collection (late 1800s to 2020), show portraits of family members, the places which they lived (Salt Lake City area) and important events, like marriage and funerals. The collection also includes Virginia Ruth Geisler Snarr's papers and journals, and the papers of Lloyd Dee Snarr, Virginia Kimball Geisler, Patricia Marian Geisler, Heber Chase Kimball, Pearl Smith Kimball, and ancestors Julius Geisler, Maggie Geisler, and Joseph Geisler. Locations of materials Utah, to include Utah (mainly Salt Lake City area), Los Angeles, California, Hawaii, and Denmark. Materials dated approximately 1865 to 2020.

Biographical / Historical

Ruth G. Snarr was born Virginia Ruth Geisler on July 31, 1943 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph T. Geisler and Virginia Kimball. She married Wade Robinson, whom she later divorced, and then remarried in the Salt Lake City temple to Lloyd Dee Snarr. Ruth worked for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for 21 years in Salt Lake City, Utah. She also served in various Relief Society presidencies. She enjoyed singing and also served on various community committees. She was raised in Salt Lake City, but she also lived in Newfoundland, Riverside, California, Hawaii and St. George, Utah.
