Douglas Wayne Owens (1937-2002) was a United States Congressman and Representative from Utah.

Douglas Wayne Owens was born in Panguitch, Utah, on May 2, 1937. He graduated from Panguitch High School in 1955 and attended the University of Utah from 1955 to 1957, whereupon he served an LDS mission to France. After his mission, he continued his education at the University of Utah and in 1964, Owens received a Juris Doctor degree from the University of Utah Law School. He became a private practice lawyer until 1968, when he was appointed as the western states coordinator for the presidential campaign of Robert F. Kennedy. Owens was elected as a Democrat to the Ninety-third Congress from 1973 to 1975. He then served as a president of the Montreal, Canada Mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints from 1975 to 1978. In 1980, he was appointed the western states coordinator for the presidential campaign of Edward M. Kennedy. He was elected as a Democrat to the One Hundredth and to the two succeeding Congresses from 1987 to 1993. Owens died on December 18, 2002, in Tel Aviv, Israel.

Peter Crawley is a mathematics professor and the author of several historical books and biographies on Mormons and the Mormon Church.

Peter Crawley was born on January 29, 1936 in Los Angeles County, California. He received a BS and PhD in mathematics from Caltech and taught at the University of Washington, University of Minnesota, University of California, Berkeley, and Caltech, before coming to BYU in 1971. He has been a serious collector of Mormon Americana for forty-five years and is the author of “A Descriptive Bibliography of the Mormon Church.”
