Biographical History
Arla Renee Mitchell (1931-2015) was a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Samoa, teacher and counselor for public school children, and faithful care taker of her family.
Arla Renee Mitchell was born on November 22, 1931 in Provo, Utah to Charles W. Mitchell and Mary LaReal Jones Mitchell. She grew in the Provo area and even attended at Brigham Young University where she got Bachelor’s Degree in Education, masters in Counseling and Guidance and MA as a School Psychologist. During those earlier years Arla served as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Samoa from 1955-1957. Her professional career was 36 years of dedicated service to the public school systems of Oregon and the Utah areas of Salt Lake, Alpine and Provo, as a teacher and counselor.
Arla had a deep love for her family and became a care taker for several of them before their death. Arla cared for her mother until her death at 100 years old, her aunt until her death at age 98, and even her sister, Nadine, who preceded her in death. Arla Renee Mitchell died July 14, 2015 in her hometown of Provo, Utah.
