Biographical / Historical
George Washington Bradley (1813-1891) was a early Mormon pioneer and bishop in Sanpete County, Utah.
George Washington Bradley was born January 13, 1813, in Salem, New York, to Pierce and Abiah Richmond Bradley. In 1834 he married Elizabeth "Betsey" Kroll Bradley, widow of his brother Thomas Jefferson Bradley. She had four children from this previous marriage. George Washington and Betsey Bradley had ten children together.
The Bradley family joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1843 and migrated to Nauvoo, Illinois. They migrated to Utah with the Mormon pioneers in 1848 and settled in San Pete Valley, Utah, arriving with the first company to the area in 1849. The family lived at Manti, Nephi and Moroni, Utah. Bradley married three other times, to Cynthia Wagle, Martha Hawkes, and Martha Stone, and had four other children (two with Wagle and two with Hawkes).
Bradley was commander of the military post at Nephi, Utah, during the Walker War of 1854. He also acted as probate judge in Nephi for six years, during which he helped procure a charter to incorporate Nephi as a city.
In 1859, Bradley was asked to help settle what is now Moroni, Utah, and was set apart of bishop of the settlement, where he served for the next eighteen years.
George Washington Bradley died March 8, 1891, in Moroni, Utah.

Elizabeth "Betsey" Kroll Bradley (1811-1893) was a Mormon pioneer and early settler of San Pete Valley, Utah.
Elizabeth "Betsey" Kroll was born July 4, 1811, in Clarence, New York, to James Kroll and Mary Waltman. In approximately 1828, she married Thomas Jefferson Bradley, and had four children together. Thomas died in 1833. In 1834 she married Thomas's brother, George Washington Bradley, and they had ten children together. George and Betsey joined The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in 1843 and migrated to Nauvoo, Illinois. The family migrated to Utah with the Mormon pioneers in 1848 and settled in San Pete Valley, Utah, in 1849, being in the first company to arrive in the area. The family lived at Manti and Nephi, and helped found the city of Moroni, Utah, in 1859.
George married three other times and had four other children.
Betsey Kroll Bradley died March 17, 1893, in Moroni, Utah.
