Collection contains two videodiscs of the annual folklore lecture by Steve Siporin, these titled "A Bear and a Bandit: What a legendary Utah grizzly and an Italian brigand have in common." This lecture was on “A Bear and a Bandit,” an essay in the winter 2015 Utah Historical Quarterly which compared the story of the grizzly bear Old Ephraim in Cache Valley, Utah, with the tale of the famous Italian bandit Tiburzi in Maremma, Italy. Materials dated November 8, 2013.

Biographical History

Steve Siporin (born 1947) is a Jewish-American folklorist.

Steve Siporin is a professor of folklore, teaching classes including Jewish folklore and folklore and religion through the College of Humanities and Social Sciences History and English departments at Utah State University. Siporin has published essays on topics such as Utah history and Italian folklore, and has worked as author or an editor on multiple folklore books and well as work as a translator of Italian works.
