Stephan D. Lindeman collection on the concerto and other materials
Scope and Contents
Contains materials collected by Lindeman on the concerto. There are also CDs of Lindeman playing solo or with Q'd Up, a jazz ensemble. The material on the concerto was compiled as research for Lindeman's publication, "The Concerto: A Research and Information Guide." The works and background of Alkan, Beethoven, Benedict, Bennett, Böhner, Boiëldieu, Burgmüller, Clementi, Cramer, Czerny, Dussek, Eberl, Field, Griffin, Henselt, Herz, Hiller, Hummel, Kalkbrenner, Kazeluch, Kreutzer, Litolff, Liszt, Mendelssohn, Moscheles, Mozart, Pixis, Rosenhain, Clara and Robert Schumann, Steibelt, Sterndale, Taubert, Thalberg, Volkmann, Wölfl, and Zelter make up Lindeman's research. There are photocopies or microfilm of published scores and copyist manuscripts for each of the listed composers. There is also some additional background research in the form of articles, dissertations, theses, and other materials. Some composers such as Mendelssohn and Cramer have significantly more research and scores than the other composers. Most of the material was acquired through interlibrary loan. The dates range approximately 1970-2010.

Biographical History
Stephan D. Lindeman (Steve Lindeman) is a professor of music theory and analysis, jazz studies, and piano at Brigham Young University.
Stephan D. Lindeman is from Columbus, Indiana where he attended Indiana University and gained a Bachelor of Music in Jazz Studies in 1977. After Indiana University, Lindeman attended Queens College, City University of New York, where he earned a Masters in Music Theory in 1984. Lindeman then graduated from Rutgers University in 1995 with a PhD in Music History and Theory. He has published a number of scholarly writings concerned with Felix Mendelssohn, the 19th century piano concerto, and jazz. He is also active as a jazz composer and pianist, performing with Q'd up, he BYU School of Music faculty quintet, and as a freelancer in the Salt Lake City area. He is married to Sharon Kessinger, an art teacher at Rowland Hall in Salt Lake City, and the proud parent of Scarlett, Sam and Jake.
