Content Description

Contains handwritten and typed personal letters between Ray Mc Hanchett and his wife, Romola Lunt Hanchett, during their separation due to Ray's enlistment in the United States Navy for World War II, from June 18, 1943, until his release August 7, 1945. Letters discuss the lives and daily occurrences of Romola "Mollie" and baby son Mc Jr. in Arizona, and Ray "Mc" in his journey with the Navy through California, the South Pacific, and the Aleutian Islands. Also includes photographs, postcards, and other mementos such as ticket stubs. The envelopes accompanying most letters are also included. Contents dated June 25, 1943 to July 27, 1945.

Ray M. Hanchett (1918-1999) was a World War II veteran in Mesa, Arizona.

Ray Mc Hanchett was born on August 21, 1918, in Pima, Arizona, to Ray M. Hanchett and Leola McFate. Ray married Romola Lunt on September 18, 1941. Ray served in the Navy during World War II from June 18, 1999, to August 7, 1945. Ray died on June 18, 1999, in Mesa, Arizona.

Romola L. Hanchett (1920-2001) was a housewife in Mesa, Arizona.

Romola Lunt was born on October 7, 1920, in Duncan, Arizona, to Heaton Lunt and Chloe Haws. She married Ray M. Hanchett on September 18, 1941, in Mesa, Arizona. Romola died on November 1, 2001, in Centerville, Utah.
