Joseph Grant Stevenson (1926- ) is a family historian and genealogist who has published several volumes on both subjects.

Joseph Grant Stevenson was born January 31, 1926. He married Marilynn Kingston in the LDS Salt Lake temple on September 1, 1950. They later had four children: Mary, Chris, Karen, and Annette. Stevenson is an active family historian and genealogist, and he has published 15 written works on both on various topics relating to genealogy.

Stevenson currently resides in Provo, Utah.

Sanford Porter (1790-1873) was a convert to the LDS church who travelled across the United States with the early pioneers.

Sanford Porter, Sr., was born March 17, 1790, in Brimfield, Massachusetts, to Nathan and Susannah West Porter. When he was four years old, Porter's family moved to Vershire, Orange County, Vermont. He married Nancy Warriner on January 1, 1812. Soon after, he served in the military for sixty days upon the outbreak of the War of 1812. In July of 1831, Porter and his family were introduced and baptized into the LDS church. He travelled to Missouri, then Winter Quarters, and then finally settled in the Salt Lake Valley.

Porter passed away February 9, 1873, in Utah.
