Handwritten letter dated 25 Aug. 1883 and addressed to "Prest. McAllister & Brethren." Wixom describes the murder of a police officer in Salt Lake City, "Capt. Bent," by a "mulatto," who had refused to pay a restaurant bill, and the subsequent lynching of the man by a mob.
