Biographical History
Dorothy L. Lisonbee (1924- ) is a Mormon educator, family historian, and traveler.
Dorothy Larson Brown Lisonbee was born on December 25, 1924, in Taylor, Arizona, to parents Alof Pratt (1882-1961) and Margaret Smith Larson (1884-1973). She married Robert William Brown, Jr. (1921-2010), on May 31, 1949, in Guaymas, Mexico, and together they had four children. After divorce in 1969, she married Lorenzo Kenneth Lisonbee (1914-2008) on April 28, 1980, and merged their twelve children into one wonderful family.
Lisonbee graduated from Arizona Teacher's College (now Arizona State University) on May 22, 1946, and became an elementary school Physical Education teacher, later teaching 7th grade, then eventually teaching Library Science. She taught in Kingman, Yuma, and Phoenix, Arizona. After her retirement from teaching, she and her husband, Lorenzo Lisonbee, began to travel the world - both as missionaries for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and as tourists - always looking for something new to see or do.
In her later years, Lisonbee volunteered as leadership in several service organizations, including AARP (formerly the American Association of Retired Persons), Kiwanis Club, the Arizona Retired Teachers Association, and the Friendship Village Foundation Organization.
Lisonbee lives in Arizona.
